Contact lenses are a great solution if you have an active lifestyle, or simply don’t like wearing glasses! For first time
users it’s important to get tested to check your eligibility and eye health – as well as ensure you’re comfortable
inserting and removing them safely as the eye is a delicate instrument. At Glen Barr we are committed to guiding you

lenses are the best choice for your lifestyle.

Daily vs Monthly contact lenses

Daily vs Monthly contact lenses

Dailys and monthlys are the two key subscriptions for contact lens use. Typically, dailys are a disposable lens that will
last you up to the duration of a day, before being discarded.* Monthlys by comparison, can be sanitized by you and re-
used for up to a month at a time. Depending on whether you want contact lenses for, for example, one night out per
week, or to wear for the entirety of the working week – will inform which method most suits you.

*Please note: It is crucial that you do not attempt to reuse disposable lenses. This can lead to detrimental eye health
and permanent scarring.

When considering your lenses there are also two key choices between hard or soft lenses. While we at Glen Barr will
cover all the details during your appointment, here’s a breakdown of the main differences:
Soft Contact Lenses: Soft contacts are good for those with a flexible approach towards usage – perhaps using
interchangeably with glasses throughout the day. They are typically very breathable, allowing oxygen to the eye and
take less adapting to than harder lenses.

Hard (gas permeable) Contact Lenses: RGP lenses are known for their durability. Where soft lenses are susceptible to
tearing, the firm material of hard lenses allows them to retain their shape and last longer. The permeable material also
means oxygen can reach the eye reducing chances of irritation.
